Biotechnology and Biomedical applications are becoming an ever more ubiquitous presence in the industry.It is essential that all level employees have a basic understanding of the management of clean rooms presence in the industry.This course provides the fundamentals of microbiology from the perspective of aseptic clean room management. Participants will gain knowledge of microorganism classification and structure, aseptic control of microorganisms and validation. Workshops will use real life scenarios will be discussed to enhance knowledge acquisition.
This course is geared towards non-Biology majors of all levels working in the Biotechnology or Biomedical Applications industry who want a better understanding of aseptic control and its implications.
Your Instructor
Nilmarie Santos is an Engineer and Entrepreneur with expertise in Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering. Her education includes an Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, a Masters Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and Doctors Degree in Chemical Engineering with a Biomaterials specialization from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. She has extensive experience in the polymer industry from research to production and in mammalian cell culture and clean room maintenance. Her professional career includes experiences in the printing consumables, Academia in the Engineering and Natural Science Faculty, and the IT industry.
